TAKOMA WALK
MIXED-USE | TAKOMA PARK, MD | 2005 - PRESENT

This proposed mixed-use retail, office and residential project will restore a historic 1941 structure to its original condition while maintaining the scale of Old Town Takoma Park’s Main Street.  The project will bring a critical mass of approximately 70 new owners to this important retail area of Takoma Park, Maryland.  Located less than 1/4 mile from the nearest Metro-Rail station, the project embodies a bold new architecture while aligning with principles of Smart Growth and Transit Oriented Design.

The complicated project scope will restore the historic building on Carroll Avenue, transforming it into community serving retail. Along sloping Westmoreland Avenue, new residential live/work walk-up units will bring more active street life toward the town-owned park across the steet. On the south end of the site, a series of residential mews units mediate the mass of the building with the single family neighborhood to the south and immediately downhill.
