HERNDON SENIOR CENTER

Project Description

This community center for senior citizens serves as an important resource for the Town of Herndon and surrounding Fairfax County. The Center serves a critical civic function as the link between an existing senior housing community and the vibrant Herndon downtown via the adopted new sector plan (the Fortnightly Neighborhood Master Plan, a multi-use development, which was also planned by Cunningham | Quill and Oculus, a landscape architect). Designed for the Fairfax County Redevelopment & Housing Authority, the 23,500 SF Center includes a commercial kitchen and dining facility, arts & crafts activity space, billiards and other game rooms, a library and computer facility. To promote community interaction, the large multipurpose room is available for use by the town for civic functions.
