Mr. Rafik has a passion for exploring architectural space through form, material, and technology. He has participated in complex international projects in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Central Asia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. Salim has extensive experience in designing commercial office, institutional, multi-family residential, infill mixed-use, adaptive reuse and historic preservation. He’s worked on numerous award-winning historic preservation projects responsive to the local environment, taking cues from its social, economic, environmental, and urban setting. A number of projects under Mr. Rafiks’s design management take a creative approach to adaptive reuse and preservation, including the Kabul Riverfront Transformation (KARIT) Project in Kabul, Afghanistan, which transformed a former munitions factory into a mixed-use commercial hub. Mr. Rafik is also tri-lingual, fluent in English, Dari, and Farsi.
