THE TREEHOUSE

Project Description

The Treehouse and its landscape were carefully placed to create a private setting for a new pool, screened pavilion and terrace in the wooded but urban setting of Cleveland Park, D.C. The new screened porch pavilion and adjoining pool take the place of a former garage and asphalt driveway that extended into the rear yard. Clad entirely in stained cedar and split bluestone, the pavilion is open on all sides. Screen panels allow the seasons to permeate the space. The Treehouse is perched at the edge of a steep hill at the rear of the yard, creating a tree top view from within. Deep eaves of the pavilion echo the roof forms of the existing turn-of-the-century house. A kitchenette, shower and wood burning stove line the east side of the interior providing privacy for the neighboring property.
