Cunningham | Quill Architects is excited to announce that The Terrell received the 2021 AIA Maryland Excellence in Design Award with a Citation in Multi-Family Residential Architecture and the 2021 AIA Potomac Valley Excellence in Design Honor Award for Multi-Family Residential Architecture.
Named after Mary Church Terrell, a DC teacher that championed civil rights and women’s suffrage in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, The Terrell houses 35 families in one wing and permanent supportive housing for 15 senior women in another. The architecture of this building was driven by the program context, economical material selection, sustainable opportunities, and social and economic impact. With the Terrell, Cunningham | Quill Architects proves that socially-conscious architecture can and should be well-designed and well-appointed.
