Cunningham | Quill to Expand With New Office In Charlotte, North Carolina

Cunningham | Quill Architects is pleased to announce the expansion of its services with the opening of a new office in Charlotte, North Carolina. Principal David Coxson, AIA, NCARB will lead the effort to grow the firm’s presence in Charlotte and the Southeast region.

Since its founding in 1996 by Ralph Cunningham, FAIA, and Lee Quill, FAIA, CNU, Cunningham | Quill Architects has amassed a diverse and award-winning portfolio that includes adaptive reuse and preservation, commercial, institutional, higher education, affordable housing, multifamily and single family residential, as well as urban design and master planning projects. We approach all our work with purpose and as a true partner to the client, identifying context and design opportunities, collaborating with the community, and executing a design rigor from concept through project completion. Leading the new office, Principal David Coxson, AIA, NCARB unites this established office ethos with more than 15 years of experience in leading award-winning residential, institutional and commercial projects. When David moved with his family to Charlotte, the principals at Cunningham | Quill began a discussion about possible expansion. “I am thrilled for this opportunity and excited to introduce the Cunningham | Quill values and design excellence to the Charlotte community. The ability to bring proven planning and architectural expertise to Charlotte in the execution of complex urban infill and adaptive reuse projects, missing middle housing, affordable housing, as well as bespoke custom homes is important to me as a resident and an architect. We want to make meaningful, impactful and lasting architecture here,“ says David.

David has collaborated with numerous city agencies, community advocates, non-profit and private developers, institutions, and landowners. He holds a Master of Architecture from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University and is an active member of The American Institute of Architects (AIA), historic preservation groups and other local community industry organizations.
