The Human Scale Film Premiere Screening and Panel Discussion



Approximately 100 people attended the premier screening in Washington, D.C. of “The Human Scale” on Wednesday, December 11th, 2013. The screening was held in the Iglesias Auditorium at the Inter-American Development Bank at 1330 New York Avenue, N.W. and was sponsored by The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the AIA Foundation, and the Downtown BID. The film, introduced by ESIC General Coordinator Ellis Juan, was written and directed by Andreas M. Dalsgaard, is about Danish firm Gehl Architects, and its profound research, led by founder and professor Jan Gehl, to analyze human interaction in cities and how to create a better urban environment.


Cunningham | Quill Principal Lee Quill participated in the panel discussion following the movie, along with Jeff Risom, partner at Gehl Architects, Harriet Tregoning, Director-DC Office of Planning, Darryl Young, Program Director at the Summit Foundation, and Horacio Terraza, INE Sector Coordinator from the IDB – Emerging & Sustainable Cities Initiative. Discussion topics included current initiatives in the District of Columbia, other United States cities, and cities across the globe; and the challenge and the opportunity urban growth in emerging cities around the world presents to architects and planners.
