Looking Ahead: Introducing the Newest CQA Team Members

We're thrilled to introduce the newest team members at Cunningham | Quill! These talented people bring a passion for design excellence and are wonderful additions to our studio. To ensure we are creating well-rounded architects, we provide mentorship and exposure to the full process of architecture of myriad types and scales. Ben, Chris, Amy, and Robert are already contributing to our DC and Charlotte studios and we are excited to continue to foster their professional growth. Please take a moment to learn more about our new colleagues:

Benjamin Glor

Benjamin Glor, AIA, studied psychology at The College of Wooster, graduating with honors in 2014. He was awarded the American Psychological Association Undergraduate Student Research Award for his Senior Independent Study LET THE OUTSIDE IN: A CASE FOR BIOPHILIC DESIGN.

Benjamin went on to receive his Masters of Architecture at the University of Virginia. He continued to investigate the intersections of nature, and the built environment. Since graduating from UVA in 2017, Benjamin has worked in Washington DC focusing on single-family residences within historic neighborhoods. He believes that combining old and new elements in unexpected ways affords a lasting essence deeply rooted in place. When not designing, Benjamin loves to sail and explore Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Christopher Hurst

Christopher Hurst, a recent graduate of the University of Virginia, first joined Cunningham | Quill Architects as a summer intern in 2022. He is now a full-time staff member working towards licensure as an Architect in Cunningham | Quill’s Charlotte office. He has a deep interest in the interactions between all the professions involved in the building construction process. Chris’s interests emerge from a desire to ensure the perseverance of conceptual design ideas through design development and construction.

Chris received both his B.S. Architecture and Masters of Architecture from the University of Virginia. He is an associate member of the Urban Land Institute’s Charlotte Chapter and a member of AIA Charlotte.

Amy Desjardin

Amy DesJardin first joined the team at Cunningham | Quill Architects in the summer of 2022 as a design intern. She led a team of Virginia Tech students in presenting the “FutureHAUS”, a student-designed fully solar-powered modular smart home, at the World Expo in Dubai. After her internship at Cunningham | Quill, she returned to Virginia Tech to complete her final thesis year and graduated in the spring of 2023 with a degree in Architecture and Minor in Landscape Architecture and Ecological Urban Planning.

Robert Clark

After graduating with his Masters in Architecture at UC Berkeley, Robert returned to the east coast to join the Cunningham | Quill team in the Summer of 2023. During his time at Berkeley, he studied community-oriented design, low carbon structures, and partnered with the Real-Estate Development Studio. His thesis was on resilient design and flood management in Central Appalachia. Originally from Charlotte NC, Robert received his Bachelors of Science in Architecture at the University of Virginia. Robert has a love of architectural model-making, and has worked as a professional model-maker for a variety of firms and clients.

Welcome Ben, Chris, Amy, and Robert!
