Lee Quill, FAIA, one of the Founding Principals of Cunningham | Quill Architects, has been selected as the Team Leader for the American Institute of Architects’ Sustainable Design Assessment Team (SDAT) for Stanwood and Camano Island in Washington State from July 23rd through July 25th, 2012.
As noted in the newspaper announcement for the event: “The SDAT program is a [National AIA] community assistance program that focuses on the principles of sustainability. SDATs bring teams of volunteer professionals (such as architects, urban designers, downtown economists, planners, hydrologists, regionalists, transportation/land use specialists, and others) to work with community participants, decision-makers and stakeholders to help them develop a vision and framework for a sustainable future.”
This will be Lee’s second opportunity to lead a National AIA SDAT. Mr. Quill led the Pike’s Peak region SDAT in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in September 2011. Under Lee’s guidance, the team worked with local decision makers and stakeholders to develop a vision and framework to reach a consensus for sustainability that will be implemented for generations to come.
